When it comes to elevating a look, the perfect hair accessory can take things from drab to fab.

Whether it’s a ribbon, hairband or sparkly clip, add some excitement to your tresses this festive season.

“The autumn/winter season is all about hair accessories,” Suzie McGill, International Artistic Director, Schwarzkopf UK Ambassador, told us. “From large statement pieces to delicate clips and ribbons. These pieces are ideal to give extra charisma to your locks no matter what the occasion or hairstyle.”

Hair accessory to elevate your look

Ribbons

“Hair bows are set to be one of the biggest hair accessories for Autumn 2017, as shown on a number of high-end catwalks recently such as Rochas and Alexander McQueen,” Ross Charles, Owner of Ross Charles Hairdressing, smiled.

“The key to this trend is to use a large, chunky ribbon and tie it loosely around a ponytail at the nape of your neck.

Black tends to look best if you are blonde, however, a pale pink or white ribbon works well against darker hair. Pair with statement earrings for a chic, sophisticated look.”

Hairbands

“Headbands were showcased on several of the recent catwalk shows and styles on trend include everything from basic, classic headbands, Alice bands and thin embellished headbands to big chunky headbands and jersey headbands,” Karen Thomson, Owner of KAM Hair and Body Spa, added.

“Headbands are a great way to infuse a bit of fun into an updo and opting for a headband with some diamantes or embellishments can easily take any look from day to night.

A statement headband acts like statement jewellery and can make a simple look really stand out. For a more low-key look, jersey headbands that match your hair colour look great paired with relaxed waves or with an effortless updo to take hair off the face.”

Headwraps

For something a bit different, why not try a headwrap?

“Boho-chic headwraps were a common thread throughout a number of this seasons runways and this style has definitely filtered into high street fashion now too with lots of shops offering similar pieces,” Jay Birmingham, celebrity stylist and owner of Jay Birmingham Hair, advised.

“Gypsy style patterns and monochromatic prints look great on these head wraps, and once your hair is styled into relaxed undone waves, your boho-chic look will be complete!”
