The beautiful island of Bali was brought to life for lots of us after reading Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love, and while getting halfway across the world to Indonesia might not happen for everyone, bringing a little bit of Bali to you couldn’t be easier.

Many beauty brands take inspiration from the ingredients that grow naturally on the island, which is known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. Read on for our top picks.

Bali Body

Cult Australian, vegan-friendly skincare brand Bali Body is renowned for its gentle formulas and fast results, and is the brainchild of David Oosterloo and Laura Foley. The pair were living in Canggu, Bali when they noticed a gap in the market for “Instagram-worthy, high-quality skincare that cared for highly sensitive skin“, and decided that they wanted to create a natural range of skincare that could be used on even the most delicate of complexions.

They sourced high-quality natural oils and started playing with formulas. From there, the first product, the Natural Tanning and Body Oil was created, and Bali Body was born.

Bali Balm

This luxury lip balm brand, which uses vegan and 100 per cent natural, plant-based ingredients, was founded by Dan Hadley after he discovered three essential oils – coconut, castor and kukui nut – when travelling in Bali. From these, he derived balms using 100 per cent natural ingredients. Each balm, which comes in flavours like bergamot & grapefruit, and lemon & black pepper, contains an ethical and bee-friendly formula, combined with candelilla leaf wax and sugar cane extract. The blend of vitamin-rich essential oils ensures lips are left moisturised, healed and revitalised, without leaving a waxy film on the surface.

The 5-in-1 hair treatment uses raw virgin coconuts from Bali, as well as the essence of fig and shea butter, argan oil and linseed to rejuvenate and revive parched hair which has been damaged by styling, heat, dyes and the environment.
